1). The starter makes a rattling sound, and the failure to start may be due to: lack of battery power, loose belt, generator failure, controller failure, charging circuit failure, battery that needs maintenance or aging and needs to be replaced, motor failure, or motor failure. The starting gear is severely worn and needs to be replaced, and the starting connecting metal block in the motor control mechanism is severely oxidized, resulting in poor starting contact.
2). The starter often fails to rotate or rotates slowly. In this case, it should be checked from the following aspects: the battery has no power or the power is weak, so the starter cannot rotate or rotates slowly. The starter wire ends are loose or fallen off, and the switch or suction switch fails. The brushes are worn or the brush surface is incorrect, and the spring is weak, resulting in poor contact of the rectifier. Field coil or armature coil short circuit and open circuit. The rectifier is dirty and the mica pieces are protruding, causing poor contact between the brush and the rectifier.
It may be because the battery is out of power, or the connecting wire is disconnected or the connector is loose; the starter relay contacts are severely ablated or its coil is disconnected, etc. The contacts of the starter's electromagnetic switch are severely ablated or its suction coil is open-circuited; the internal winding of the starter's DC motor is open-circuited or short-circuited; the starter's armature shaft is bent, and the gap between the shaft and the bearing is too tight.
Solution to starter motor not turning:
During normal starting, the key should not be turned for more than 5 seconds. If it cannot be started several times in a row, it cannot be started continuously. It is necessary to check the starter, battery and other places, and then continue to use the starter after troubleshooting.
1). If the diesel engine cannot start due to starter motor failure, it depends on the battery power. If the battery power is insufficient, the starter motor will rotate at a low speed or will not rotate. At this time, the battery must be charged in time.
2). Check whether the connector of the connecting wire is loose or damaged. If there is any slack, tighten the connector in time and replace the terminal if necessary.
3). Check the carbon brush of the starter motor. Because the carbon brush is a consumable item, it must be repaired or replaced in time.
4). Check whether the rotor of the starter motor is damaged. If so, replace it in time.
5). Check whether the gear of the starter motor cannot be embedded in the flywheel ring gear. At this time, you can rotate the flywheel to one position and check the installation condition of the starter motor.
