The function of the engine piston is to withstand the combustion pressure in the cylinder and transmit this force to the crankshaft. The structure of the piston includes the top, head and skirt, which together with the cylinder head and cylinder wall form the combustion chamber.
1. Piston top: The piston top is an integral part of the combustion chamber. It usually adopts a flat or concave top design to make the combustion chamber compact, with a small heat dissipation area and a simple manufacturing process;
2. Piston head: The piston head is the part above the piston pin seat. Piston rings are installed to prevent high-temperature and high-pressure gas from entering the crankcase and to prevent oil from entering the combustion chamber; most of the heat absorbed by the piston head is transferred to the cylinder, and then Dissipate heat through cooling medium;
3. Piston skirt: The part below the piston ring groove is called the piston skirt. Its function is to guide the piston to reciprocate in the cylinder and withstand side pressure. When the engine is working, the piston will bend and deform due to the gas pressure in the cylinder. After being heated, because there is more metal at the piston pin, it expands more than other parts.
